CAMEA Celebrates Excellence at the 27th Annual Aviation Symposium

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Feb 14, 2025 – The Central Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Association (CAMEA) proudly hosts its 27th Annual Aviation Symposium on February 20th and 21st, bringing together aviation professionals, industry leaders, and aspiring AMEs under the theme “Leadership, Quality, Safety.” Manitoba is recognized as the third-largest aerospace hub in Western Canada, making it a key center for innovation and excellence in the aviation industry.

A major highlight of the event will be the presentation of the CAMEA Outstanding AME Awards, recognizing top-performing Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and students who have demonstrated excellence in their field. This year marks a historic milestone as Caroline Sicat of StandardAero becomes the first female AME to receive the Outstanding AME Award.

FastAir will further showcase its commitment to excellence, with three of its staff members receiving prestigious awards, reinforcing the company’s dedication to fostering top talent in aviation maintenance. All winners will be formally recognized at the CAMEA Awards Dinner on February 20, 2025.

2025 CAMEA Award Recipients:

  • Outstanding AME Award – Caroline Sicat, StandardAero
  • Outstanding AME Award (2024) – Sean McLaughlin, FastAir
  • AME Rookie of the Year Award – Justine Boo, FastAir
  • AME Women in Training Award – Iryna Bilchuk, FastAir
  • Sheet Metal Award – Ashton North, KF Aerospace

CAMEA also proudly supports the next generation of aviation professionals through its 2025 Student Bursary Program. This year’s recipients include Kyril Gastador (Perimeter Aviation) and Juliana Yazon (Babcock Canada) from Seven Oaks School Division, as well as Chenyu Wang (RRC Polytech AME Diploma Program) and Josiah Winslow (RRC Polytech AMJ Apprenticeship Program) from RRC Polytech Stevenson Campus. These students exemplify outstanding dedication and potential in aviation maintenance.

“This year’s winners exemplify leadership, dedication, and technical excellence in the aviation maintenance profession,” said Brady McArdle, President of CAMEA. “We are thrilled to celebrate Caroline Sicat’s historic achievement, paving the way for more women in aviation maintenance.”

The CAMEA Symposium continues to be a vital platform for knowledge-sharing, networking, and professional growth. The event featured engaging speaker sessions, hands-on technical workshops, and leadership training, covering key industry topics such as Transport Canada regulatory updates, operational excellence in MRO, compliance advancements, and best practices in aviation safety.
